Videos
I mad a couple of videos using some photos that I took a while ago. It has been something I've been working on for a couple of months. It took that long to figure out why the video didn't have the music I chose so anyway it works now. Well apparently I just tried to upload it and could not. Technology sucks big time.

Joy of the Mundane
I just heard the news on and realized that the person who drowned in the river today was someone I knew of, but did not know personally. He was exploring a drain tunnel and got swept into the river, his friend was saved but he was not. His name was Ian Talty and he was just 30 years old he went by Joy of the Mundane on flickr. I always loved looking at his photos, he liked graffiti he always found the coolest places to photograph.
I was so shocked when I realized that the story I was hearing about on the news today was someone I knew. I don't know what to think.
Yesterday I found this abandoned building and emailed him to let him know about the graffiti that was there. Im posting one of them.
Rest in Peace, Ian

St Paul, Mississippi River bridge
I took a drive today trying to find Jerabeks New Bohemian coffee house, the directions I got got me nowhere, so I found this nice little coffee shop called TK's coffee, off of 35E. In my drive around this area of St Paul, I found lots of places to shoot, so the trip wasn't a total loss. I found this road that leads to a trail and stumbled upon the Mississippi river bridge, it's a cool railroad bridge and the area sits across the river from my favorite abandoned place, Island Station. I took some photos of the old power station and the bridge. As I was there, the train started to roll across the bridge so I took some photos, they came out blurry because I didnt think to set the camera up for this. There was some cool graffiti on the trains, too bad you can't tell what is on them. Here are some pics.

Beautiful day
Well, I finally made it outside today, the weather is so nice it must have been close to 50 this afternoon. I broke out the camera and tripod into the car and took off to St Paul for some shooting. I drove up Shepard road all the way where it turns into Warner Road and made a right. Dang I am not too good at remembering street names all I know is, I ended up in Newport near what I think is a recycling plant, it had trains, tracks, stuff and stacks of crushed cars. After today, I think there is hope the sun will shine again and warmer weather will visit us in the near future.

It's the economy, stupid, or stupid economy
I dunno, I wish the weather would warm up so I can take some pix, it's no fun when the camera freezes up, I've tried a spare battery warmed up in my pocket. I guess when it's 5 below, nothing wants to work. Speaking of work, lately it seems I have taken a step back in time..to kindergarten, new year, new rules no drinking or eating at your workstation, I can understand it to a point, but dammit..I need my Starbucks! Mandatory break and lunch times...come on! we are all over the age of 18, why should we be punished for the stupidness of others? I feel that after 12 plus years of document experience I can be trusted not to steal time or spill food or drink. If I want to take a break I should be able to be trusted to take it at a time when I want. Maybe some people will sympathize with me or maybe not. A lot of people are affected by this, not just me we all hate the new rules. It's like the company wants to make sure we all know our place, well they made that perfectly clear! Maybe things will get better or I will win the lottery....

cabin fever
Damn, it's been so cold! I can't wait for warmer weather to get here so I can do some shooting. There are so many places that lend themselves to exploration, when the weather gets warmer. I am on the lookout for urban areas or places with old buildings or graffiti, one or the other I don't care.

trains and graffiti
I named my blog "Industrial Canvas" because the things I mostly like to take pictures of are old buildings and train. The reason being is that old buildings and trains are prime targets for graffiti artists, hence the name
Industrial Canvas because the taggers are using these as a canvas of sorts. One of the things I like doing (when the weather gets a little warmer) is going over to the tracks at off of Hiawatha and photographing the "art". Also another fave is photographing old buildings, ex. power plants, mills, anything interesting looking. There is a rail yard in St Paul I like photographing because it has this cool building and I believe a train that is run remotely in the yard, it makes these scary "clacking" or sparking type of sound as its sitting there with the motor running. One of the photos I uploaded is from the Kurth malting plant in Minneapolis. I don't know, I just like how it looks.

Some more of my photos are being displayed at my work. Hopefully some clients will see them. Maybe someone will buy them too. This is a few of my pictures that I think are actually worth buying.
